Best Friends

Staying on a work out schedule, a health regime, eating all organic foods or getting massages (who can afford?) is all beneficial to our health. Personally I don`t think there is anything as healthy as good friendships. Someone who is excited to see you, hear how you`ve been, how work is going. Someone that learns to know your weaknesses, as well as your strengths. Someone who take note of your child hood stories and keeps them in their hearts. A friend is a favorite.

Throughout our life, we find friendship in our Moms, our Dads, fellow students, grandparents, siblings and teachers. Friends, if not already in family, becomes a part of our family. Family lifts us up in prayer, holds us accountable to reach our very highest potential and loves us no matter what.

My Husband is my greatest friend. He is rock solid and balances me out so well. Marriage is such a gift.. Anyways, today he is leaving for 2 weeks. He will be touring Australia with JesusCulture, and can I just add that it is summer over there. Pause. Yeah.. I am a little jealous. =) But I have stocked up on baking ingredients, gonna work allot and I have planned lots of hang outs with friends. It will just fly by, and soon enough I can throw myself in the arms of my Love again.

Enjoy your friends and family!

My work outs - week 1

January is the big gym month, loads of enthusiastic people have found their way to the gym. Some people stick to the elliptical machines, some go for the weights and some people test out classes. Some people come alone, some come with their friend. This morning I got to work out with my friend Alyssa, and it was a blast. We gave it all, worked really hard and inspired each other to keep going. That `s the beauty of having a work out buddy ;) Thanks Lyss!

This is my work outs of 2011 so far:

Sunday - ran 4 miles, 20 min. strength training
Monday - Instructed Spinning 45 min.
Tuesday - Instructed Spinning 45 min.
Wednesday - Ran 1 mile, did 30 min of strength training (HIIT), instructed Spinning 45 min.
Thursday - Free
Friday - Ran 1,5 mile and did 40 minutes of strength training (HIIT)
Saturday -  Instructing Spinning 45 min

For all of you runners out there; Keep track of your runs with Nike+ GPS (an app you download to your Iphone) and if you run on a treadmill, the Nike sensor will pick up your miles, pace etc. Too. Makes running more exciting ;)

Carrot Spice Cupcakes

Today I just had to have something sweet..
I made these cupcakes a week ago, but wanted to test out the same recipe only this time, without eggs. Baking and eggs goes together like hands and mittens. They just fulfill each other so well. Oh, dear. But, I decided that these cupcakes are pretty healthy and might even be considered breakfast - having the carrots, walnuts and healthy flours in mind. So without the eggs they would only be a bit more dense.

I used this icing to top it off with..
...I wish you could all come and eat cupcakes with me ;)

Good night!

Beyond Gorgeous make up kit

Hi beautiful people, what kind of make up do you wear? I am all over the map when it comes to choosing brands.. I have some Smashbox products, Mac, Bobbi Brown and Bare Minerals. Lucky for me I don`t need to wear make up at work. Pjeh!! Cause I`m not really good at applying it, haha. Especially eye make up. This week I got a make up kit from Bare minerals that I have been testing. It came with a couple of eye shadows, mascara, 2 brushes, blush powder, eyeliner and my favorite - a lip gloss. I loved the pinkness, and the name of the kit ;) Beyond gorgeous.

I love the blush powder - it has a fresh color and goes well with the pink lip gloss. The mascara is light and has a big brush that makes applying easy. I also loved getting new brushes - so needed as my old ones were cactus like. Have a good day!

AM beauty

I was up bright and early today. Hopped in my work out clothes, grabbed a bucket of water and ran out in the cold. Every morning my car has ice on the windows, so a quick solution is to pour water on the car.
I instructed a Spinning class at 6AM... Jamba juice is luckily on my way home from the gym so I stopped there and got a yummi fresh squeezed orange juice. I liked their new logo.. and I added my own twist on it:
I haven't had a cold or a flu since June. Working out and making sure I get vitamins seems to be working. Yey for coldbusters =)
Many of you are working early morning too. Or, you get up early to finish homework, or to make lunch for the Husband. Finding the beauty in the AM hours can be hard, especially when we are tired. I treated myself to a Jamba Juice, enjoyed the frost on the ground, the extreme fog down at Park Marina and the sunrise as I drove home. These things made my AM beautiful.
What is beautiful to you today?

Kisses

What is Spinning?

Spinning is a work out class where you ride a stationary bike. The instructor will guide you through a road map that includes flat roads, mountains, down hill etc. A motivating group setting, energizing music and inspiring instructor make Spinning a really fun and effective work out.

The great thing about Spinning is that it can work for anyone. People at any fitness level can do this because you can go at your own pace by controlling the resistance on your Spinner bike. Listen to your body and adjust the resistance accordingly.

When working out with the Spinning program you train very effectively. Most classes are about 45- minutes long and you can burn up to 400-500 calories. The distance traveled depends on your cadence, but it usually ends up being at about 15-20 miles.

So regardless of how fit you are, you`ll get a great work out. Get on the bike, put some resistance on, and let the instructor guide you through a great work out!

If you live in the Redding area - come try a Spinning class at Everyday Fitness. My class is Saturday 10.15 AM. And starting Thursday the 20th of January, at 6PM. We also have classes every morning of the week. Come, check it out.

Benefits of Aerobic Exercise

First Monday of the year is here, many of us are back at work and busy schedules. I want to encourage you to prioritize your work outs because there are so many benefits to it. If you are relatively new to exercising, or coming back after pregnancy or injury, then start by taking small steps. Walking, biking or a fun class at a gym are good options.
For those of you that have been regularly working out for a while - fuel that motivation and start chasing after new goals. One small step at the time will make up for a big goal achieved. Some of us have to dig a little deeper to find inspiration. Maybe a reminder of how good it feels to have accomplished a hard work out, or 2 long miles that seemed impossible at first is all that's needed. Maybe you need a few more reasons to hit the treadmill again..

Aerobic means "with oxygen", and refers to exercises that are intended to improve the oxygen system. It is an activity that is long in duration yet low in intensity. Examples are jogging, swimming, jump rope, elliptical trainer, bicycling and walking etc. Here are some of the main benefits by training aerobically:

  • Burns fat - When exercising at aerobic rates your body prefers fat for fuel, and it learns to do this 24 hours a day
  • Strengthens immune system - Research show that we increase "fighter" cells that can help protect against diseases
  • Aid in sleeping - the balance in our body improves by exercising so now theres a better environment for rest
  • Improved energy
  • Psychological benefits - can decrease stress, anxiety and depression. Can foster feelings of well-being.
  • Better stamina - a strong heart can go stronger longer
What are some things that motivate you?

I better get back to working, I am planning for Spinning classes - I teach 4 this week. Plus preparing Booty camps and other events. Hope your day is productive and full of love!
Kisses

New year, new work outs..

Transitioning back to everyday working out routines is exciting to me. Holiday season is over, summer is not far away. This is the perfect time to start planning by setting goals and visualizing change.
My first work out of the year went a little something like this:
  • I ran 4 miles in 27 minutes
  • 30 Ninja jumps
  • Ab crunches
Goal #2 This year I want to see great results as I work out with heavier weights

What are your fitness goals?
Kisses
